Moving around a new city can seem complicated and confusing sometimes, specially on our arrival. We thought we could give you all the options that are available to make your way from the Airport straight into the Lisbon city center and vice versa.
Some options are cheaper, some are faster and some are just more comfortable, so just pick the best one for yourself
The cheapest option to go straight into town from the Airport or vice-versa: is the metro. Is only 1,45€ each trip and it takes you to the center (Rossio station ) in around 30 minutes! Once you exit the airport, you can find the metro stop right outside the exit doors from Terminal 1.
The metro line to the airport is the red line and the airport is the last stop, and you can reach all the other lines from it. So, to head the dowtown area, switch in Alameda to the green line and leave in Rossio or Baixa-Chiado or switch in S.Sebastião to the blue line and get out in Restauradores, Baixa-Chiado or Terreiro do Paço.
Aerobus, the Lisbon Airport Transfer Bus, with regular links between airport and important points in the city center, that include bus and train stations. Stops at the main hotels and runs daily between 7:30am and 11pm. It is 5€ for a ticket going both ways and 3€ for children. Want to know which Aerobus stop is closest to your accommodation? Search for your Hotel in the list below!
Another option available are Taxi Apps such as Uber, Cabify or MyTaxi. This apps connect driver-partners and riders. providing door-to-doors services to their clients in different cities and luckily, Lisbon is one of them! You only have to download the app and link your credit card to the app to request a ride. A ride from the center to Lisbon Airport costs around 5/10€.
Common city taxis
The final option is to simply get a city taxi which will be lining up in the Taxi stop outside the airport exit. City taxis is still a good and efficient option although it might be the most expensive one. You can find other Taxi stops in several points around the city center such as in Praça Pedro IV (Rossio square) or Praça da Figueira (Figueira square).
Booking a transfer is always a comfortable choice, because you can book it in advance and it comes in handy, when you don’t know the city well or f if you’ve a bit of luggage with you.
