Costa de Caparica
Just across the river you have the most amazing beaches ever! Either in Praia de são João or in Fonte da Telha, you can count with warm waters in the Summer. Good waves to surf, lots of sand, and lots of restaurants that give you the most amazing seafood or sushi experience.
You can get the ferry boat to Cacilhas and then a bus in order to get to those amazing beaches.
Cascais offer you a different experience in terms of type of beach. Here you can find the beaches in the River Tejo line, or the beaches that are closer to Sintra. In terms of the beaches in the river line, you can get there by train and then have a short walk down the downtown villa of Cascais in order to get there. These beaches are calm, with no waves and cold water. If you want a beach with lots of personality, you can come to Praia do Guincho, or Praia das maçãs. Either one of these beaches, are rocky, with big waves, cold water, and wind in most of the days. Doesn’t sound appealing? The view will help.
To get to these beaches, you need to catch the train and then the bus.
Praia de Carcavelos
The Carcavelos beach is one of the closest to Lisbon. In a 20 minutes train ride, you can get to a calm beach, with lots of sand and with an amazing view. Here you have a few restaurants that serve Portuguese food and sushi.
This place resembles heaven. In Arrábida we have the clearest water, where you can see everything, from the fishes to the coral. The water is a bit cold, but it’s definitely worth it.
You can get to Arrábida by bus from Lisbon, or you can take the train to Setúbal and then take a bus.
Tróia beach is a bit far, but it’s definitely worth it. Warm waters, looking like the Caribbean. Tróia counts with 13 km of dunes, clear water and pine forests.
You need to take the ferry boat from Setúbal to Tróia.
