One of the cutest and most delicious cupcake shops in Lisbon is Tease. No, I am not teasing you! Tease has been around the city for 8 years and has a place in the heart of the locals and is getting popular among the tourists!
It all started as a passion,
Ana has completed a bachelor in psychology and her sister who is her partner is an architect. The two sister used to make cupcakes for birthday parties, friends and their family. People who were trying them couldn’t get enough and were motivating the two girls to embrace this talent they have. One of the fondest memories of Ana as a kid was baking with her sister. They used to dream about having their own little cupcake shop when they were just kids, but how would they know that this was going to be BIG?
In 2009, the dream became reality
At the height of the banking crisis in 2009, when most people were clinging to their jobs, the two sisters left their job to start their own business. They saw this downturn as the perfect opportunity to make their dream come true. Their own cupcake heaven. Back at that time, Ana states that she was just a sales assistant and thought that it was about time to get out of her comfort zone and chase her dream.
The success didn’t come overnight. It was a combination of hard work, passion, optimism and patience. Despite the difficulties and the trouble to start their own business, their love for the cupcake shop was so strong that it really made them stand out. For those who enjoy cupcakes, the shop is located at Praça das Flores, in Príncipe Real.
What makes their cupcakes so special?
They have about 14 different recipes. The secret behind the success of the cupcakes is keeping them simple as they only use a few ingredients. “We only use high quality ingredients that you would use at your kitchen at home, everything is fresh and the cupcakes are handmade”. Also, the variety is not as big but it satisfied every sweet tooth out there!
Choosing one cupcake can be a real adventure,
But you can never go wrong! You can choose the red velvet cupcake or the chocolate one, the selection is big but I assure you they are all delicious. I tried the OREO one, and there is no doubt that it was the MOST DELICIOUS cupcake I ever had in my life! This moment is dedicated to you, savor the sweet moment and accompany it with the tea or coffee of your choice. There is also a big selection of fresh lemonades and juices.
COZY COZY COZY
Cozy is the word that describes this environment the most! This place is cozy and they definitely know how to show it ! It might not be a big place but all good people fit in there. Don’t be surprised If you see people walking in with their laptops or friends hanging out while drinking tea and enjoying their cupcake. Also important to mention not only they have cupcakes but they offer great breakfast for only 5 euros and some nice quick bites for lunch or dinner. The busiest time to go is breakfast and lunch. If you would like to visit this place when it’s more quiet and chilled, then you should go during the evening.
The cupcake shop is growing rapidly and that is why they are moving soon to Cais do Sodre. Ana said that they are going to keep their little shop in Principe Real. But If you really want to stay updated then you can always follow their page on facebook.
